The Talbragar Fish Beds: Uncovered!

Site of the Talbragar Fish Beds near Gulgong in New South Wales.

In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

Out in the middle of New South Wales, not far from Gulgong, is a cow paddock that has a beautiful view to the north over the Talbragar River. The first time I saw it there were thistles up to my waist and I couldn’t see any rocks at all but when I got out of the 4WD and started walking around I found that every time the toe of my boot hit a rock, the rock had fossils in it. I was so excited to be at the site of the Talbragar Fish Beds, but I was also a little disappointed because I really couldn’t see anything except a few loose rocks on the surface. The fact that there was no outcrop simply added to the intrigue of being at one of the most famous Jurassic fish fossil sites in the world.
