Looking down on the spectacular panorama of sea and cliffs, and across Investigator Strait towards the mainland, one could be forgiven for doing little else but spending the day soaking up the atmosphere of this magical place. Yet, we spend much of our day facing quarry walls that have been handcarved from the side of the hill, reducing rock to gravel in a manner that would do our convict ancestors proud. It raises the question: “why”?
