Description

Have you ever wondered about the geological structure and history of a given region?

This four part, articulating keychain is inspired by the geological “block diagram”. Such drawings, often made by geologists, depict a rectangular cross section of a portion of the Earth’s surface.

The locale depicted in this diagram contains a desert canyon, with the underlying geology clearly visible on its sides. A hinge at one corner allows the layers to be swiveled out, revealing fossilised organisms from seven geologic periods. From the first appearance of macroscopic multicellular life in the Ediacaran period, to the rise of the mammals in the early Eocene, this keychain tells the story of half a billion years of geological upheaval and the evolution of life!
