Description

Dixie

Dixie was a true Winton local. Even by Winton standards, where one is expected to spend 40 years in town before being considered a local, Dixie qualified easily. And like a lot of Winton’s old locals, when she passed away she was buried in the district she called home.

In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

Dixie would be disgusted to see the way her old stamping ground has gone. We Wintonites obviously haven’t looked after it very well since she died. Things were different back when she was around. None of these forty degree summers and harsh dry landscapes for her! It used to be cool, and a fair bit wetter too, with conifer trees and ginkgoes to sit under and beautiful green ferns along the creek. And if she wanted to spend a day on the beach it was only half an hour down the road; not that there was much in the way of roads back then but still, you could walk it in a couple of days. Yep, life wasn’t too bad for a self-respecting sauropod back in Dixie’s day.
